Colin Powell endorsed Barak Obama for President on Meet The Press this past Sunday morning. Many have been expressing their political opinions lately but there is something about the way that he communicated his thoughts–clearly, thoughtfully, concisely, and articulately. Colin Powell is considered by many to be a very reasonable, trustworthy man–someone who has gained the respect of the American people. Here are some of the key points he made:
- “I think (Obama) is a transformational figure, he is a new generation coming onto the world stage, onto the American stage, and for that reason I will be voting for Senator Barack Obama,”
- Powell cited Obama’s “steadiness, intellectual curiosity, and depth of knowledge” and praised Obama’s choice of Senator Joe Biden as his vice presidential running mate.
- Powell questioned MCCain’s choice of VP (Sarah Palin). “I don’t believe she’s ready to be President of the United States, which is the job of the Vice President”
- He said either candidate would make a good President
- He expressed his concern about accusations of Obama being a Muslim and wondered why that would disqualify someone in many American minds (even though Obama is a Christian).
- He said he would not support McCain just because of their friendship any more than he would support Obama just because he is black.
- He expressed concern for the negative tone that McCain’s campaign had taken in recent months.
- He said that the real question in his mind is which leader is right for America at this time.
Well said, Colin Powell. I wish you were running for President!

1. Transformational (yes, he’s black)
2. Steadiness? Picking Joe Biden makes him knowledgable – huh?
3. If Palin’s not ready for the office how is Barak? And if so how do his quals surpass McCain’s?
4. either candidate… so why not endorse both?
5. Muslim? Why would he disqualify McCain because he’s white?
6. I would disagree here. I don’t want to be a racist but I would conclude that he sided with Barak because he’s black.
7. Is he serious?
8. I guess we’ll see what happens…
i love how yhu did what yhu did
he is a monkey.
